ดำรงตำแหน่งประธานและสมาชิกกิติมศักดิ์ของสมาคมห้องสมุดแห่งประเทศบรูไน
เธอเคยได้รับรางวัลบรรณารักษ์ดีเด่นแห่งบรูไนและเป็นบรรณารักษ์คนแรกของประเทศบรูไนที่สำเร็จการศึกษาด้านบรรณารักษ์ศาสตร์จากประเทศอังกฤษ
เนลลี่อุทิศตนทำงานให้กับรัฐบาลบรูไนยาวนานกว่าสามสิบปี
เคยดำรงตำแหน่งหัวหน้าบรรณารักษ์ห้องสมุด Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka
และต่อมาดำรงตำแหน่งหัวหน้าบรรณารักษ์ที่มหาวิทยาลัยแห่งชาติบรูไน
ในช่วงเวลาดังกล่าวเนลลี่ยังทำหน้าที่เป็นประธานอาเซียนและประธานวาระแห่งชาติในการประชุมคณะทำงานอาเซียนเพื่อศึกษาวรรณกรรมและการเรียนรู้เกี่ยวกับอาเซียนภายใต้คณะกรรมการอาเซียนด้านวัฒนธรรมและสารสนเทศ
(ASEAN COCI)
นอกจากนั้นเนลลี่ยังสนใจการพัฒนาในภาคเอกชน
โดยเป็นผู้ร่วมก่อตั้งสมาคมหลายแห่ง ได้แก่
สมาคมห้องสมุดบรูไนดารุสซาลาม สมาคมบัณฑิตสตรี สมาคมวรรณกรรมและการอ่าน
สภาสังคมสงเคราะห์บรูไนดารุสซาลาม สภาโรคเอดส์บรูไรดารุสซาราม
และปัจจุบันยังดำรงตำแหน่งเลขานุการกิตติมศักดิ์ของสภาธุรกิจสตรีแห่งบรูไนดารุสซารามอีกด้วย
นอกจากนี้เนลลี่ยังเคยปฏิบัติหน้าที่เป็นเลขานุการกิตติมศักดิ์ของสภาสตรีบรูไนดารุสซาราม
และประธานคณะกรรมการจัดงานประชุมเอเปคเครือข่ายผู้นำสตรีเมื่อครั้งที่ประเทศบรูไนเป็นประธานเอเปคในปี
พ.ศ. 2543
ปัจจุบัน เนลลี่ยังคงทำงานเป็นหัวหน้าผู้ประสานงานของห้องสมุด Class 64
ที่อุทิศให้ท่านฮัจญี ฮัสซานัล บอลเคียฮ์
ผู้เป็นทั้งองค์สุลต่านและเจ้าเมืองบรูไนดารุสซาราม
นอกจากนั้นยังทำงานในสภาการประชุมบรรณารักษ์แห่งเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้
โดยดำรงตำแหน่งสมาชิกคณะกรรมการบริหารและประธานสภาในปี 2543-2546
รวมทั้งดำรงตำแหน่งเป็นคณะกรรมการที่ปรึกษาของเทศกาลสื่อสาระสำหรับเยาวชนแห่งเอเชียที่จัดขึ้นโดยสภาการพัฒนาหนังสือของประเทศสิงคโปร์

Dato Paduka Haji Sunny
Nellie is the President and an Honorary Fellow of the Brunei
Darussalam Library Association. She is also a Brunei Darussalam
Librarian Awardee and the first Brunei Chartered Librarian having
done her library education in the United Kingdom.
For over thirty years, she had served in the Brunei Government
service as Chief Librarian of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Brunei and
later as the Chief Librarian Universiti Brunei Darussalam. During
this time she also served as the ASEAN Chairman and National
Chairman in the ASEAN Working Group on Literary and ASEAN Studies
under the ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information (ASEAN COCI).
Nellie is very active in NGO work having co-founded the Brunei
Darussalam Library Association, the Women’s Graduate Association,
the Reading and Literacy Association, the Brunei Darussalam AIDS
Council, the Brunei Darussalam Council on Social Welfare, the Brunei
Darussalam Women’s Business Council and currently serves as its
Honorary Secretary. She had served as the Honorary Secretary of the
Council of Women of Brunei Darussalam and was the Chairman of the
Organising Committee of the APEC Women Leaders Network Meeting in
Brunei Darussalam when Brunei Darussalam was APEC Chairman in 2000.
Currently Nellie is the Chief Collection Coordinator of the Class 64
Library dedicated to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah,
Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam, is a Congress
of Southeast Asian Librarians (CONSAL) Executive Board Member and
was its Chairman in 2000-2003 and an Advisory Board Member of the
Asian Festival of Children’s Content under the National Book
Development Council Singapore.
