ชูครีอะฮ์ บินติ ฮัจจิ ยอน ดำรงตำแหน่งเป็นผู้อำนวยการห้องสมุดประชาชนปีนัง มีหน้าที่รับผิดชอบการบริหารและการปฏิบัติงานทั้งหมดของหน่วยงานแห่งนี้ ชูครีอะฮ์ สำเร็จการศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรีทางด้านบรรณารักษศาสตร์โดยตรงและมุ่งมั่นทำงานในสายงานนี้มากว่า 30 ปี ทำให้เธอสั่งสมความรู้ความชำนาญที่ได้จากการปฏิบัติ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นด้านการจัดซื้อ การจัดหมวดหมู่ การดำเนินงานทางด้านเทคนิคและการบริการ เรียกได้ว่าชูครีอะฮ์เชี่ยวชาญทุกๆ ด้านของศาสตร์การบริหารจัดการห้องสมุดก็ว่าได้ ความมุ่งมั่นของชูครีอะฮ์ในด้านงานบริการของห้องสมุดประชาชนปีนัง ทำให้เธอได้รับการยอมรับอย่างสูงด้วยรางวัลมากมาย อาทิ รางวัลการบริการยอดเยี่ยมในปี พ.ศ. 2539 รางวัลบริการดีเด่น ในปี พ.ศ. 2536 และ พ.ศ. 2542 นอกจากนั้นเธอยังได้รับรางวัลเหรียญเชิดชูเกียรติดีเด่นในระดับชาติในปี พ.ศ. 2543 พ.ศ. 2547 และ พ.ศ. 2551 ด้วยความสามารถในการพูดและความสนใจใฝ่หาความรู้อย่างต่อเนื่อง ทำให้ชูครีอะฮ์มีโอกาสนำเสนอรายงานหัวข้อต่างๆ ที่ช่วยพัฒนาและต่อยอดองค์ความรู้ด้านห้องสมุด ไม่ว่าจะเป็นงานประชุมที่จัดขึ้นโดยห้องสมุดประชาชนปีนังเอง หรืองานประชุมห้องสมุดนานาชาติที่จัดขึ้นในประเทศมาเลเซีย ตลอดจนการประชุมบรรณารักษ์ระหว่างประเทศของสหพันธ์สถาบันและสมาคมห้องสมุดนานาชาติ (IFLA) และการประชุมเครือข่ายห้องสมุดยูเนสโกที่จัดขึ้น ณ ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา สวีเดน และเยอรมนี ปัจจุบัน ชูครีอะฮ์ยังร่วมทำหน้าที่บรรณาธิการสิ่งพิมพ์ของห้องสมุดประชาชนปีนัง อันได้แก่ วารสารรายไตรมาสของ PPAPP, หนังสือ “Every Baby A Book”, “รู้จักเมืองปีนัง” และ “บันทึกความทรงจำถึง ดร. อับดุล ราห์มาน อับบาส อดีตผู้ว่าการรัฐปีนัง”

Mrs. Shukriah Binti Haji Yon

Shukiah Binti Haji Yon, who has a Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science, is currently the Director of Penang Public Library Corporation (PLC) and is in charge of the overall management and stewardship of PLC. Throughout her 30 years career, Shukriah has been involved with all facets of the library industry. Her extensive ‘hands-on’ experience in acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, technical implementation and customer service has made her into a subject matter expert in all aspects of library management. Her passion for customer service excellence for PLC has earned her many awards including the Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang Perbadanan (1996), Anugerah Khidmat Cemerlang (1993 and 1999) and Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (2003), and such state awards as Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK) in 2000 , Pingat Kelakuan Terpuji (PKT) in 2004 and Pingat Bintang Cemerlang Negeri (BCN) in 2008 An accomplished speaker and a fervent advocate of lifelong learning, Shukriah has given many presentations to champion continuous professional development in librarianship at PPM events, as well as at the ICOL Conferencein Malaysia and the IFLA and UNET Conferences in the United States, Sweden and Germany. Today, Shukriah is also involved in editing many publications initiated by PPAPP, among them the Buletin Mutiara PPAPP (every quarter), Every Baby A Book (2007), Kenali Pulau Pinang (2007) and the Memoir of Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Dato' Seri Utama (Dr) Haji Abdul Rahman Bin Haji Abbas (2012).
