ซาร่า กากาทิก้า สั่งสมประสบการณ์ด้านบรรณารักษ์เยาวชนและผู้ประสานงานศูนย์ข้อมูลการเรียนรู้ประถมศึกษาของโรงเรียนเซเวียร์ มานานกว่า 14 ปี ปัจจุบันเธอเป็นอาจารย์บรรณารักษ์ที่สถาบันบีคอน อันเป็นโรงเรียนนานาชาติหลักสูตร IBO หรือ International Baccalaureate Organization ที่เปิดสอนในหลักสูตรการศึกษาระดับกลาง (11-16 ปี) และระดับประกาศนียบัตรนานาชาติ (16-19 ปี) ซาร่าเคยเป็นผู้อบรมในการประชุมเชิงปฏิบัติการในงาน Storytelling Congress ครั้งที่ 2 ที่ประเทศสิงคโปร์ในปี พ.ศ. 2545 และยังเป็นตัวแทนประเทศฟิลิปปินส์มาร่วมงานประชุมเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ด้านการบริการห้องสมุดโรงเรียน ที่จัดขึ้นโดยสหพันธ์สถาบันและสมาคมห้องสมุดนานาชาติ (IFLA) ร่วมกับองค์การยูเนสโกที่กรุงเทพฯ เมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2546 อีกด้วย ซาร่ามีโอกาสเดินทางไปทั่วทุกภาคของประเทศฟิลิปปินส์ เพื่อทำการอบรมด้านบรรณารักษ์และการเล่านิทานให้แก่โรงเรียนและชุมชนมากมาย เธอเป็นทั้งครูและนักอบรม เป็นทั้งนักเขียนและบล็อกเกอร์ เป็นผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านการส่งเสริมการอ่าน เป็นผู้รับรองของสมาคมรับรองมาตรฐานสถาบันการศึกษาของประเทศฟิลิปปินส์ (PAASCU) ในด้านศูนย์สื่อการสอน เป็นที่ปรึกษาห้องสมุดของสัมบัตทรัสต์ บริษัทสินเชื่อการกุศลในประเทศอังกฤษ รวมทั้งเป็นประธานคณะกรรมการด้านหนังสือเด็กและเยาวชนประจำประเทศฟิลิปปินส์ (PBBY) เรื่องเล่าพื้นบ้านฟิลิปปินส์จาก 7000 เกาะ หรือ “Tales from the 7,000 Isles: Filipino Folk Stories” เป็นหนังสือเล่มแรกของซาร่า ที่เขียนขึ้นร่วมกับนักเล่านิทานชื่อดังระดับโลกอย่าง ไดแอน เดอ ลาส คาซัส พิมพ์จำหน่ายในเดือนตุลาคม พ.ศ. 2554 โดยสำนักพิมพ์ ABC-CLIO ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา ผู้สนใจสามารถติดตามอ่านงานเขียนของซาร่าได้ที่บล็อก http://lovealibrarian.blogspot.com

Ms. Zarah Gagatiga

Zarah Gagatiga has 14 solid years of work experience as a school librarian and coordinator of the Grade School Learning Resource Center of Xavier School. She is currently working as a Teacher Librarian at Beacon Academy, an International Baccalaureate School offering the Middle Years Program and the Diploma Program. In 2003, she was part of the Philippine delegation to the Southeast Asian Conference on School Library Services sponsored by IFLA-UNESCO in Bangkok, Thailand. In 2002, she presented a workshop at the 2nd Storytelling Congress in Singapore. Since then, she has toured the different regions of the Philippines to conduct library workshops and storytelling sessions in schools and communities. She is also a teacher-trainer, writer-blogger, reading clinician, a seasoned PAASCU accreditor (basic education) for the area of Instructional Media Center, library consultant for the Sambat Trust, a charity based in the UK, and chair of the Philippine Board On Books for Young People (PBBY). Her first book, Tales from the 7,000 Isles: Filipino Folk Stories with co-author, international storyteller-author Dianne de Las Casas, was published in October 2011 by ABC-CLIO, USA.
